The GUSTI – Gastro UpScaled Tourist Itinerary in rural regions of Croatia and Italy project aims to identify, valorize and promote the sustainable gastro tourism as an intangible cultural heritage in the areas of involved rural regions of Croatia and Italy. The project will modernize policies for the natural and cultural heritage valorisation and will encourage the diversification of touristic flows, resulting with enhanced quality, attractiveness and accessibility of included destinations. A more diversified offer in the destination will positively affect the tourist offer of the region in general, and will result in extended tourist season as well as in improved economic effects in involved regions.
In Dubrovnik-Neretva region the project will establish a new thematic route on the island of Mljet, as one of seven thematic tourist trails within the 'Rural Dubrovnik Neretva' umbrella project.
Moreover, the 'Croatian Island Product' - the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds project that started in 2007. with the aim of encouraging the production of original and quality island products will be revitalized. In addition to market research, this activity will also include organization of a specialized fair and the guidelines development for the further ‘Croatian Island Product’ improvement.
Furthermore, Municipality of Ston, for the needs of Museum of Viticulture and Winemaking Putniković, will be enhanced by modern digital equipment; an international conference on eno-gastronomic tourism topic will be organized in Dubrovnik, and numerous educations for winemakers and stakeholders from the project area will be held, which, in addition to the educational component, is going to influence social inclusion and support local businesses in involved project areas.
